To Select Books For A Book Club?

Now is your chance to vote on what books you want to read next year during our brand new Sigma Tau Delta Book Club! Try not to judge the books by their covers...I know I included pictures of all of the books in the survey, but if you're unfamiliar with a book please look up a summary/review online.

Please remember:
1. Include your first and last name.
2. Select only your top 5 book choices! Only 5!
3. Type in which book is your #1 choice.

Feel free to rally for the book of your choice on this blog! Post a reply/comment to this blog post, telling us why we should choose a certain book to read.

This following chart shows the top 10 books so far. Keep that in mind as you're voting on books!

  1. I'm struck that only two books that I voted for wound up in the top ten so far, and the book I nominated (by Sigma Tau Delta featured writer Chris Abani) isn't there at all. There does seem to be something of a preference for the long-ago published (Garcia Marquez, Salinger, Morrison, Nabakov, Coehlo) rather than the more recently published, and for the popular over the literary. I really, really want to read Chris Abani, because he's so funny and risky.

  2. Personally, I would be happy to see a number of books win. I want to read something challenging, so that as a Book Club, we can work through it together. Hopefully, the winning book will be one that I was too intimidated to tackle on my own. Continue voting! You have until Monday, June 14th to cast your votes, and then the winning selections will be chosen on Tuesday, June 15th. The winners will be posted on this blog.
